Well, Tuesday was my first day training! I signed up for the Transformation Challenge from Muscle and Fitness Hers magazine. Here are the starting images that I submitted. They aren't the most flattering photos of me, but I guess that isn't a bad thing since I am in a transformation challenge! I get 8 weeks to change my body dramatically by building lean muscle mass and burning fat. I think this challenge will jump start my training for my first figure competition around the end of this year. I would like to shoot for sometime in November or December. So that means I only have around 5-6 months to sculpt my body into a competition-worthy body!
Since my first training session, I am VERY weak and sore. I knew I would be sore, but I realized that after 7 months of not lifting, I am completely weak and it will take me much longer than I expected to get where I want to be in terms of muscle strength and weight.
My first workout:
squat 2 sets of 8 at 95lbs
alt:
push-ups 2 sets of 12
seated row 2 sets of 12 at 55lbs
alt:
step-ups 2 sets of 12 at 30lbs
prone jack-knife 2 sets of 10
at home:
1 hour of flexibility yoga
This doesn't seem like much, but let me tell you, I still can't walk!
I am working on getting together a healthier diet, which I established a bit today by eating a healthy breakfast and a healthy dinner. I need to work on eating smaller meals more frequently. I was going to do some light cardio today, but since I had trouble rolling out of bed, that did not happen. I am working on a 3 days a week workout with a day in between each. I may switch to a body split each day of the week because that is what I am used to from last summer. Working out 3 days a week doesn't seem like enough to me!
Hopefully tomorrow my muscles feel better because I have my second workout to do!
